Well, if brains were not present during conversations, it would have been obvious. Since conversations were not allowed by the left, all we got was authoritarianism and angry mobs.

I feel the biggest problem with all of this stuff is the speed in which this discussion happened. When Obama was in office, he was respectful of people being uneasy about things. He didn't try to jam everything through like Biden did. Conversations take time.

This reminds me of a conversation that I had recently. Basically someone else and I were talking about how different the right and left are. I'm on the right, he is on the left. We sort of concluded that a big problem is that both sides have end goals that are incompatible with another.

The democrats have been in control of the presidency for 8 of the last 12 years. I don't understand.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, btw. I would like to have good discourse with people. It's honestly just really hard. Time will tell. If a conservative presence stays here and even if they are not the anti-social ones you describe, I think that it's inevitable to encounter some toxicity.

Then I feel people will say "well why didn't anyone question what was going on?" The answer to that will be "everyone was too busy applying old terminology to them, so nobody truly realized all the things that led to the final outcome."

The term "fascism" is unique to ww2. I think that there is real possibility that either side erupts into an awful, thing that is just as bad as anything the world has seen. I see political extremism on both ends. Whatever either side becomes, they will have new names.

I'm an independent who voted conservative this election. I think that the continuation of this narrative is destructive to society. They are not Nazis. They are not fascists. Calling them such actually distracts people from actual criticism they deserve.

You're just avoiding my point, though. Saying that people are Nazis is not even remotely a nice thing to say at all. Especially when they are not Nazis.
Of course there is a wave of trolls right now. Block away, I get that. It will die down as they get bored. Probably sooner than later.

I think this article is adjacent to my point. I am not saying that the right is beyond criticism, or that Trump is guilt free in this culture war we are in. I'm just saying that I always see the left in complete denial of their role.

Yea, but you see... Calling people that aren't Nazis is a pretty offensive thing. the reason why this place seems "nice" is because there aren't many people here that would feel you are aiming your comment towards them. So you get a bunch of likes and nice comments.

I'll give this a shot. I had been on the waiting list for a while, and I have been on since before the exodus from X. I do think that decentralized social media should be the way to go going forward.

I agree with that. But I don't think the leftists there have been any better than anyone else. Just today I went to tell someone that I really appreciated their back and forth with me. We didn't agree but there was no name calling. They had blocked me. And their last message was nasty.
