I had whooping cough as a baby. I obviously have no memories, but my mom told me it was a scary experience. Once released from the hospital, she and my grandmother had to take turns staying awake through the night to monitor my breathing as I slept, for fear I'd skip too many breaths...
Whooping cough (pertussis) cases have skyrocketed by more than 1,500% nationwide since 2021.
