A cold, windy morning on the Second Manassas Loop Trail. At one point it was snowing while the sun was out.

Hiked the Slaughter Pen Farm Battlefield at Fredericksburg, Virginia. You walk across an open, corn-stubble field toward a wood line and hill. I’ve hiked lots of ACW battlefields, and it may be the “most like it was then” of the group. “Good job” to the American Battlefield Trust.

This awful picture was taken with my phone through the blinds at the office, but I don’t recall seeing this at sunrise before.

Moving from our lifelong home in Fort Worth to Manassas was our COVID project. There’s a lot I don’t miss, but I miss sunflowers and a place where the land is just a pedestal that holds up the sky.

The Manassas Battlefield National Park is my go-to spot when I can’t go hiking elsewhere. I’ve now hiked all of the “official” trails at the park.
