Condensers on the other hand is a three way tossup for choice in terms of accessible price with the lowest price being the AT2020 from Audio Technica. The other two big ones are the Rode NT1 and the Shure SM4. 🧵

For Dynamics there is the SM57, SM58 from Shure being your base options. If you want and can spend a bit more there is the MV7X from Shure and the 421 Kompact from Senheisser.

For interfaces stick to Focusrite Scarletts and the MOTU M series. They are your simplest ones and are the workhorse of home setups. Beyond that is just extra knobs and sliders that aren’t needed as it can be done digitally.

First off, do not buy a USB mic that is over $200 USD. At that price you can get a Focusrite Scarlett for $100 and for another $100 you can get an SM58, the concert microphone we all know. 🧵

This is from the R. R. R. Behind the scenes video… that is a $15k microphone. Additional fun fact about it you can see in the video is it requires an additional power source to go through (7-pin connector). It was chosen probably because it is an absurdly sensitive microphone (-32db in cardioid).
