Shoutout to the men pitching themselves as experts on this

I work in the media so I’m desensitized but I think there’s something deeply wrong with us that this is considered normal.

I know I don’t know what possessed me!

I haven't watched the documentary yet, but I will. I'm hoping they can dig into some of this and determine where the slippery slope began and what contributed to Ruby getting so severely sucked into Jodi's dark world.

Kevin is in contact with his kids which says a lot. But I can't shake the feeling that, somehow, we haven't heard the full story yet. Like right at the start of the call, Kevin said it was Chad's idea to speak to their followers about his bedroom. (Obviously, I have no idea if this is true.)

I don't know if Kevin was 100% on board with the parenting decisions back then. All I know is that he passionately defended them on the record.

I don't know when things turned abusive. I don't know when Jodi came along.

All I know is that between 2020 and 2023, things got a lot worse.

Kevin has said in recent interviews he pushed back on some of Jodi's teachings. I think he's referring to things like Chad sleeping on a beanbag.

It's weird now thinking about how eager he was to explain that decision to me.

You could say that you see the beginnings of something more sinister — how children are "antifragile" and that they "need to be exposed to challenges and difficulties so that they can grow."

But there was also a lot of what sounded like parental love.

It's really eerie looking back on it now.

Kevin and Ruby struck me as strict parents who had some controversial ideas about how responsible very young kids are for their own lives.

Reading back some of the conversation, it seems likely Jodi was around. Kevin mentioned working with "licensed therapists and psychological professionals."
