Grandma went home, followed the instructions, and VIOLA, "crescent cookies" made with almonds and vanilla-flavour powdered sugar. Different recipe from the round ones, and we started making those in NOVEMBER to hand out at Christmas. Grandma was honored, it was the only thing of value to her. :)

True story. My grandmother was a RN back in the 40's and 50's -- the local woman that was called for birth assistance. She never charged, as many that she birthed were from recent EU immigrants that moved to the area for work. One wanted to pay her, and gave her THE recipe that her mother made.
