I think three generation of ext file systems in Linux kernel are are there for religious reasons. It can be two or four. Bcachfs might even be ext5. I do have a five year personal and some tentative educational/technical plan as well.

I have noticed lately that the paranoid fear of computers becoming intelligent and taking over the world has almost entirely disappeared from the common culture. Near as I can tell, this coincides with the release of MS-DOS. -- Larry DeLuca
