Google backtrack on ethics
Never saw that coming from the "do no evil" crowd... 🙄 Of course when they said "do no evil" they left out "unless it interferes with our bottom line"

I love how Trump, Vance and Musk style themselves defenders of free speech, while simultaneously banning government agencies from mentioning climate change or diversity (inc biodiversity!), equity and inclusion, or even possessing maps which show the Gulf of Mexico.
Torquemadas the lot of them.

These apologists inevitably fall back

Frequently you will see them isolate

people exercising extraordinary
amounts of time and energy to create
convoluted apologetics to defend the

All this "looking for corruption" by president Musk and his bootlicker Trump makes me wonder how much corruption we would find in their lives and businesses...

Is it just me or has WIRED been dogwalking the rest of the media on this story
NEW: An internal email obtained by WIRED from a threat intelligence team monitoring US Treasury systems advised labeling DOGE operatives an "insider threat," adding that it recommended suspending their access "immediately."

It astounds me that if I buy a car in these countries, the manufacturer is still putting their claws in you. If I OWN the car, the manufacturer has zero right to any data.

The Trump administration & supporters are excited about their "massive deportation plan". I wonder if any of them have figured out the (clearly going 2b significant) cost economically & who will pay for it?
1. Loss of cheap labour
2. Massive increase in personel
3. Transport costs (staff & aliens)

The issue is more complex. 1. X uses all your stuff for AI (privacy violating). 2. It's full of dubious bots that can now STILL ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT even if blocked. The G&M seems to think ppl should sacrifice this for the dubious unlikelihood of being an effective counter in the X echo chamber
Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?
