Same here, scrapped from last Nov of Juli & Jan. It was at the stage of "i need to make Juli look older" and never got back to it. Drawn her since and got her age/features better from the start.

Just looked close enough at Cain's sketches here to realize what it was illustrating. The parts on either side of his chest, they act like external lungs for him, I guess.

I see that as something like this, part of the pod inside coming downward and we're seeing the bottom of the cylindrical shape there. And that's why its lighter there on the cylindrical side bc its closer to the glass, the sun is hitting it
