On Tuesday, a majority of Texas' State Board of Education (SBOE) signaled their support for new curriculum that would pair religious texts - namely, the Bible - with public school curriculum. 8 of 15 board members approved, including a Republican appointed by Gov. Abbott to fill a vacant Dem seat.

Counting these two grants, the Fifth Circuit is now responsible for 13 of the 52 cases the Court is hearing this term—25%(!)

Even if we count pairs of consolidated cases as one case each, it’s still responsible for 10 of the 46 cases (22%).

That’s … a lot.
