Just read Donald L Miller's "Masters of the Air" from which the TV series is based on. Much more engaging, interesting than the show itself

daughter said that now she speaks Japanese with a western Japanese accent : Japan like most countries has 2 accents, Osaka Kyoto etc is western and Edo is eastern. apparently there are a few differences in word uses also.

may be so but not bad for someone who only spent 1 year in Nara with JET program. beside my daughter is getting her PhD at NU in biomed engr and N1 is plenty good if she desires to work for a Japanese biopharma or an US pharma who has a partnership with Japanese bios.

my daughter passed N1 Japan language proficiency test. she is Asian American. but then she is raised by me not to feel entitled lol
