That’s our #Harvest25 completed. Better than feared, but the dry weather this year has reduced yields. Now time to focus on getting sorted for #Harvest26

This afternoon I hosted Defra SoS Steve Reed on our farm. A great opportunity to show him around our farm and discuss nature friendly farming & lots of other topics. Farming is facing many challenges now & in the future. Having the opportunity to discuss things with the Steve Reed is very important.

Great day on the @nffn.bsky.social stand @rspbengland.bsky.social Hope Farm #OpenFarmSunday event. Really good numbers of public attending. Great to see my local MP @iansollom.bsky.social attending and seeing how nature recovery and food production works together.

Our in field margins are starting to look great and over the last few years we’ve added them to all our fields every 90-120m. Receiving public funded support to deliver these and cover the cost allow us to deliver them. Supporting nature recovery on farms supports food security.

Thanks @alistrathern.bsky.social for hosting this roundtable of MPs and farmers in Westminster to discuss how support for farming and nature must go hand in hand 🤝. “As well as producing the food we eat, our farmers are the stewards of the countryside and nature that makes our country so special.”

Bit of building work today to repair a barn that’s 140 years old. One of those jobs that’s been on the list for a while. Hopefully when all finished we will have a barn we can use for larger groups of people that’s better than a open barn we currently use. Always more to farming than people think 👨‍🌾

🚜 Multitasking this evening. Swapped the laptop for a tractor windscreen and enjoying the last of the sun while getting jobs done. Sometimes the best thinking happens behind the wheel! 🌾💭

Yesterday I participated in the House of Lords “UK Methane Roundtable: Seizing opportunities to reduce the UK’s methane footprint at home and abroad”. It was great have stakeholders from across the fossil fuel and agricultural sectors, which provided for a really rich discussion. We have lots to do

This is a really good exhibition and well worth a visit if you’re in or visiting London. Soil is so important and we do not treat it with the respect we should.

It was great to see you today. It was great to see novices having their first go at a hedge cutting competition to those who do it professionally all supporting each other sharing knowledge and their expertise to keep the hedge laying tradition thriving for the future.

Really productive meeting today with England Species Reintroductions Taskforce discussing assisted colonisation framework, predator guild assessment, peer review and publication reports, barriers and enablers and lots more! Great to see all the hard work being done by the taskforce coming together.

Great lunch at today’s #ORFC with Defra Minister Daniel Zeichner. Encouraging to hear his commitment: “Nature-friendly farming is the direction we want to go… We won’t cut back on ELMs - you’re winning the argument.” 😄

Been a busy few days in Westminster again: productive meetings with Rebecca Smith MP, Ellie Chowns MP & Robbie Moore MP to name a few on APR/BPR changes, value of a whole farm approach & putting nature on the balance sheet.

Really productive few days in Westminster this week meeting Mps, Ministers and enjoyed meeting Laura KyrkeSmith - such a positive conversation about fairer supply chains, supporting farm diversification, and peer-to-peer learning. Plenty to reflect on and take forward. 🌾💬
