Yeah, and it's been closed for other reasons recently too. Seaquest State Park is right next to the observatory too, it's a nice hike but views of the crater or anything. There's lots of other good trails there too.
You could also head to Mt Hood and visit Timberline, it's pretty nice there!

Oh yeah highly recommend that, the observatory is fantastic if you can get up there (assuming it's open, sometimes it's not).

Food wise, my favorite restaurants are probably Harlow, Bastion, and Jade Teahouse. Dick's primal burger is also fantastic, and Khao Thai on Hawthorne is a delicious Thai option.
If you like hiking, I definitely recommend Forest Park, Mt Tabor, or Powell Butte. And oaks Park is always a fun trip!
