This is the first time a social media post has ever stopped me in my tracks. I really want to understand. Is it the universality of some ethical principles (but that would just be "some" ethics, right?) Or that ethics are logically provable? Or something else entirely?

One of the things I like about StoryGraph (GR alternative) is that you can set goals that make sense to you. Number of pages rather than number of books, for instance. But I get that sometimes any goals can make reading seem more like a chore than a pleasure.

...There are left equivalents: "patriot," "pro-life," "Murican." They come across (or are portrayed as) mocking "real Americans." The problem isn't finding the right word. It's somehow creating conditions where our words are heard.

I'm 71--16 when Hampton was murdered--and tbh, I don't think most white people my age know about it, not even people who are generally well-informed. My kids do (although my youngest is 29 and probably doesn't qualify as "today's youth.") But they learned if from me, not from school.
