French teacher, curriculum lead in Kent, not on Twitter/X. Moody character from a Wes Anderson film with existential angst.
In an era when advances in CLT research have been made more than ever, why is it that during webinars (I think I attended about 5 yesterday) from two different rather reputed sources I see the MFL community congratulating each other on « engaging games »?! open.substack.com/pub/tipsfort...

Exhausted after the emotional rollercoaster of last night’s Romanian elections and nice to see Romania joining western nations on a centric democratic path. However the new president’s job is now that of a headteacher working in an Ofsted RI rated school.

Well, “Adolescence” is a punch in the gut. I wonder what the general public makes of it while us, teachers and pastoral leads, contemplate all that we’ve been raising alarms about for years.

Here is one example though (amongst a myriad others) Online CPD. Many who offer it (also teachers) do take into account that at 4 PM ppl might be shattered and they offer recordings to be watched at a more convenient time. EXCEPT exam boards who do NOT provide recordings unless you log in at 4.

Women between the ages of 30 and 39 are the most likely group to leave the profession.

For so many, teaching isn’t compatible with motherhood. Glad to see forward thinking trusts are looking to change this:

How many more schools would improve (even in Kent where the grammar schools orthodoxy prevails) if all SLT and staff paid attention to a detail that a lot find insignificant, such as calling out?

I have a report out today with The Sutton Trust looking back at the huge array of reforms over the past few decades and asking if they've made a difference.

What's got better, what's got worse, and what are the challenges for the new government?
