Red tail hawk, judging by the red tail from above in flight and the dark bands at the front of the wings near the head. Also sound like a red tail (very common where I am) although other hawks might sound similar.

Ours are mostly sandy colored with typical diamond or irregular marking (Great Basin rattlesnake).
