This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen.

Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !”

How a Canadian scientist and a venomous lizard helped pave the way for Ozempic - National | Globalnews.ca
In 1984, Dr. Daniel Drucker, an endocrinologist from the University of Toronto, discovered a hormone that helped pave the way for popular diabetes drugs such as Ozempic.

Apparently there is a small photo limit, so here are some additional photos of the previous piece.

This was perhaps one of my top 5 favorite finds of all time. A beautiful Taxocrinus ungula from the Edwardsville formation of Indiana. From the field to finished. This piece also had a nice Halysiocrinus tunicatus hitchhiking.

Zeacrinites is a common upper Mississippian crinoid but beautiful all the same. This one comes from the Glen Dean Formation of Grayson County, KY.

Pld photo, but digging crinoids is a lot of work! Most specimens I've posted so far are from a different site, but this locality was by far and away one of my favorites. This site produced one new species and several new occurrences for this formation.

A diminutive crinoid, Lanecrinus (formerly Decadocrinus) depressus from the Edwardsville formation of Monroe County Indiana. This is one of the more common Edwardsville crinoids, but common or not they are always fun to find.

So the cool thing about this platform being relatively new is that I get to be THE crinoid guy. Here's a cool Eretmocrinus - Dorycrinus association I found from the Edwardsville formation of Montgomery County Indiana last year.

Beautiful coiled crinoid, with a very old label saying it’s from the genus Herpetocrinus, from Dudley, UK. Invert fossils deserve love too. ⚒️

A stalked crinoid with stalk festooned with hydroids! This was back in 2015, and I think it was the first time I saw it! #Okeanos in French Frigate Shoals in the Hawaiian Islands region. #echinoday
