Most families don’t start the meal with a little dish of canned fruit cocktail, as it turns out. Rutabaga is probably also uncommon (but I also dislike it pretty intensely and refuse even a “no thank you” helping these days).

I love the idea of Thanksgiving pierogi!

I’ve never heard of it before, but I’m putting it on my list of things to try!

It’s really delicious and very easy for a mole (and it’s safe for me to eat with my peanut allergy)!

I bet butternut squash would work really well in this pumpkin mole recipe (I grow culinary pumpkins and am always on the lookout for new things to make with what doesn’t go into pies).
Pumpkin and Ancho Chile Mole - Pati Jinich
You can do fabulous things with pumpkins aside from spooky faces and pumpkin pie... Just ask any Mexican. We have a way with pumpkins. Native to Mexico, pumpkins have been devoured there for centuries...

I always enjoy seeing him turn up in things!

They’re in the same family, so there is potential for cross-sensitivity. I try especially hard to avoid stevia during ragweed season to give my system a break.

Amen to that! I think it interacts badly with my ragweed allergy and it tastes awful, so there is zero upside to me.

The cheesecake is incredible and the cornbread with blueberries makes a really nice breakfast (same goes for the danish and the rings).

I tried the chocolate chip cookies on your recommendation (our usual is the Swiss butter cookies) and they are incredibly good!

Ooh, that one with the French jams and mustards looks really tempting. I also just saw the fancy Whittard hot chocolate Advent calendar which I am hoping might go on sale later in December, because $120 feels like too much of a splurge right now.

I love a bufflehead!

Don’t forget that the drinking water is “alive,” and presumably not with the sound of music.

I hope you have a speedy and easy recovery.

These are really nifty!

During the last bout of major work on our street the Greater American Cable Seeking Backhoe managed to take out the cable and our gas line. Fortunately, nothing caught fire or exploded, but it was a very exciting day.

My father often comments on how much cleaner the air and water are now than when he was younger.

My mother has been reminiscing about a recipe she used to make with pork and grainy mustard. This looks like it will hit all those lovely nostalgic notes!

Congratulations! That is some awesome shopping!

You’ll be in my thoughts this week. I wish you strength, healing, and peace.

Now I’m imagining (and coveting) a whole line of gardening merch emblazoned with that slogan.
November 15, 2025 at 4:23 PM
I’m putting this on my list to try. I love a good crumb cake!
