Gonna playtest the workshop for this larp intimacy mechanic in a couple weeks. Needed something that would fit the aesthetic, theme, mood, etc for an Arthurian larp, so I modified an old SCA tradition and fused it with a variant of the Taste of Intimacy meta-technique.

Found this *fantastic* hat at my local secondhand/vintage/craft co-op while looking for a hat for my modern Merlin character, because his costume was missing something. Realized I can do “wild man of the woods” era Merlin which fixes my costuming issues. Now have to come up with new kit around hat.

Dissecting (repairing. attempting to repair. salvaging) this 1996 RV is going … excitingly. But I actually got a pleasant surprise when I peeled back the rotting thin sheets of plywood (?) from the interior leaky window: it was glued to firm not-rotted insulation. Whew.

Can’t get larp work done around here without a kitten trying to “help” (my nesting partner was going through some sword patterns and Setka thought the sword was a cat toy and so it became playtime with kitten instead)

28 remote NPCs written, 38 to go, I wanted to finish this today, we’ll see if that actually works out @_@ but it’s so worth it, this is fleshing out the modern characters so much more *very* quickly

The creative ways people resisted - through cleverly disguised receivers to receive BBC radio, to secret private printing presses, to mobilized forces - were heartening. The brutality and numbers of losses, failures, countermeasures by the occupiers… sobering.

He’ll be a year old this weekend; it started curling over his back when he was happy/excited (instead of sticking straight up) and has becoming most of the time. Not injured; apparently it’s a genetic mutation.

tldr I’ve seen so many u.s. boffer larps treat their all-adult players like children, and it’s incredibly frustrating (also part of why I burned out of plot staff at a boffer larp, because the plot head/owner was authoritarian type, always talking about how to “make” players act the way he wanted.)

I’m particularly reflecting on workshopping needs for boffer larpers coming to a more freeform, negotiation-based (permissive/authoritative) larp for the first time. I see a lot of the same skill deficits in those larpers as I do with my therapy clients who’re raised in authoritarian households.

Last coffee in Norway (Supreme Roastworks ftw) before heading to the airport in 14 hours. …at 2am. …anyway, I normally can’t stand coffee, but Norwegian coffee tastes more like fruity black tea to me. None of the acridity I’m used to in American coffee shops. Might have finally converted me.

I’m really hoping he becomes the assistant/beta rooster for the flock. Always envious of other people’s stories; Gumbo (flock roo) hasn’t accepted our other rooster chicks so they all live in a bachelor flock (they weren’t very gentlemanly, to be fair). This looks promising though.

The young roo’s colors are coming in so beautifully! (Dark Brahma/frizzle bantam cross) And since the two hens who co-hatched and co-raised him are our gentlest, he’s followed their lead, and our flock rooster has been accepting him. He still hangs out with his silkie mom and bantam cochin mom too.
