I'm certainly no Mark Driscoll apologist, but choosing some subset of scripture to view as authoritative while ignoring the rest is exactly what allows Christians to syncretize anti-biblical worldviews with Christianity. Not saying the red letters aren't important, but they also aren't exclusive.
