I spent 30 years as a game artist, all the way back to the 80's. I just gave up. The only people who make money are the people at the top. You can do it for the love of creating but not to pay a mortgage .

Libraries are free and if you have a phone you can read on that if you sign up for a library card (I use Libby). You won't get everything, but you'll still get a ton of free e books to read, if you can't make it regularly to the physical library.
