Making ocs out of picrews or avatars on highly customizable games will always be one of my fav alternatives ^^
mc skins too unironically, know plenty people with ocs based on them. You're still technically basing it off a stranger's work but the low res makes it much more creatively involved imo

Stealing from thieves sounds fun in theory but I really don't trust these algorithms with making unique enough images.
What if the so called "public use and owned by no one" character is someone's oc with slight differences? I certainly wouldn't like someone claiming my characters like that.

Stealing from thieves sounds fun in theory but I really don't trust these algorithms with making unique enough images.
