A rat in midwinter goes out
And sees that there’s snow all about
She dances with glee
Thinks “perhaps I shall ski!”
And exclaims “I love snow!” with a shout

My cat sits alone on her chair
Performing her thousand yard stare
She’s protecting the house
From ghost, goblin and mouse
And only she knows that they’re there

A week into New Year, inviting!
Spring closely follows, exciting!
And fresh blankets of snow
Bring us joy and not woe
