It's not even the ID thing that is a problem. I physically could not access NSFW on Bluesky while in the UK, cause the only options were facescan or credit card. I don't own a credt card, and the facescan could not detect my age. I didn't bother too much cause I was just visiting for 2 weeks.

This isn't viable for streamers, unfortunately; and it's also my understanding their government is looking to outlaw VPNs as well, so even if you *could* get it to work, it may be a bandaid at best for a short period, unfortunately.

Also judging people's age by facial scans isn't accurate. It can and will cause a lot of issues. Hell, Youtube isn't even doing face scans and they trying to guess ages and locking people out of their own adult content that they have to prove they're 18 to make in the first place. It's overreach.

What's bad about having to scan your entire face to view adult content on Twitch?
It's invasive and controlling, and it doesn't actually protect children which is what it's claiming to do. It's just control, not actually protecting children.
It's "net neutrality" all over again.

Short of some incredibly massive vtuber being detained by ICE and the government going to war with vtuber fans, I don't foresee the vtubing space caring much about politics at all; unless it's pushing hate, sadly.
Wish we saw more vtubers pushing resistance and directly speaking out against this
