it may not be that bad, actually, if my Fernandes ZO-3 is any indication - the placement of the speaker is similar and it doesn't feed back all that much, unless you turn gain way up

thanks to you mentioning a while back that TRLE games are standalone, I've actually been playing a bunch of them for the past few weeks and I'm loving it!
(actually, I also grit my teeth a lot - TR controls have a lot of quirks to them and diving is pretty glitchy - but it's still very fun)

having played the PS3 versions of F3 and New Vegas through PSPlus - a more miserable experience since it adds streaming exclusive annoyances like input lag and bad video compression - I agree that all the shabbiness strangely suits the post-apocalyptic setting well
