The Republicans and those who voted them into power are to blame. They’re the ones who made Democrats choose between letting people starve and federal workers go without pay OR letting the ACA subsidies lapse. Blaming Democrats instead of Republicans is ludicrous.

Stents for glaucoma? I didn't know that was possible. Do you recall what was used for sedation? Eye drops for pain or moisture? (I'm curious about procedures I haven't experienced.)

I use pickled pork, a little tasso, and andouille sausage with the beans, and season to taste, which varies depending on the saltiness of the meat. I can give them base amounts of seasoning & tell them to taste and adjust. I use the same amount of the Holy Trinity every time & the same roux, though.

I bet his family will open a predatory mortgage company and profit off scamming people with a 50-year mortgage, too.

Buying a $1M home with 20% down and a 50-year fixed mortgage at 6%?
Your loan is $800k.
Your monthly payment is ~$4,317.
After 30 years you’ll have paid $1.55M but only $201k of that is principal.
You’d still owe about $599k.
50-year mortgages barely touch the principal for decades.

I make a gumbo for NYE. Chicken and andouille. My daughter (born in Louisiana, living in WA) and her BF (also born in Louisiana, living in WA) want me to make red beans over Christmas and write the recipe down this time. I kinda do it by feel, so don't know if I can write it so they can follow it.

All Recipes has a YT channel I like. Short, simple recipes, including crock pot ones. I like the woman who hosts, too.

I have had it! It's actually better than I expected. I get that with the fried chicken and Hawaiian rolls. 😁

I love the weather here, the trees, and the diversity. But the food is mostly meh here unless it's ethnic. I really would like to find decent Cajun but am not having any luck, so I go to Altha's for ingredients & whatever hot food they are serving that day.

Safeway does have decent fried chicken and it's right across the street from me. IDK why I blanked on that as I like it better than KFC's. Thanks for the reminder.

Fried chicken is an excellent idea. I would do that, too, but the fried chicken in WA is terrible. I am making cornbread dressing and a pumpkin puree dump cake. Green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, shredded brussel sprouts salad, but not much else.

1st time on Valium & I said to the Dr., "OMG. My brain doesn't have endless thoughts. Is this how it feels to be a man." He laughed. The 2nd time on Valium & nothing. I had been looking forward to a few minutes with zero thoughts running full speed in my head and no filter on my mouth. 😂

The surgery took only a few minutes for each eye, a week apart (I was asleep on one dose of Valium each time). Immediately afterwards, I could see and everything was so BRIGHT. I didn't have any pain (except for the brightness). I had no idea that I had been seeing through a brown/yellow filter. /1

I would never have remembered the name of the procedure but will never forget the doctor. I also had a macula that scrunched up like Saran wrap, which he fixed with steroid eye drops. He was so good at what he did! But I am in WA now, so not close enough to go there anyway.

Before I travel & on every special occasion, I email my kids & tell them I love them and all the things I love about them and how proud I am at the way they turned out. It's something my dad used to do with me (cards & letters before email existed), which I treasured. I still miss him 24 yrs later.
