I'm using method 2 as it is the easiest for me on firefox, if you use Chrome you will have to use method 3 or 4 instead though.

I personally use Zen, instead of just removing the anti-features like most forks, it also replaces the main browser UI and IMO it looks and feels a lot better.

Age verification here is all client-side, meaning it's only your computer doing the checks.

Yes, I just checked a few of the latest VRC pictures posted on bsky, can't see any identifying metadata attached to them, it appears that bsky does strip all of that for you.

I don't think this is a case of VRC trying to be malicious, I think they're trying to add an actual feature, this functionality has been in VRCX for a while now so it is nice to see this become builtin.
Also, this was already mentioned mentioned, but I believe websites strip this info anyway.

I will admit that it is strange that GIMP cannot view this data, though based on how the data is stored in the file I assume this likely an issue with GIMP and not VRChat intentionally trying to prevent you from removing it.

This announcement seems to be misinformed.
This data isn't hidden, it is just not understood by most programs as it is non-standard.
While GIMP is unable to view or edit it you can still strip the data by unchecking "Save XMP data" on the export window (and "Save EXIF data" to be extra safe).

Unfortunately code-based locks like this get leaked to children very easily. The only properly effective method is a per-account whitelist...
It would also be nice if VRChat could just expose 18+ verified status to worlds so this wouldn't be necessary at all.
