This also happened to my parents. It’s difficult to have a real conversation with my mom and I rarely speak to my father. Very sad.

Advice my husband gave me that seems so simple but escaped me for years: you don’t have to finish a book you don’t like or is not engaging you. Just put it down and try another one. So freeing. I always felt that I had to push through and finish something I wasn’t enjoying.
