For over 20 years that I've lived in this house, a female eastern box turtle lays her eggs in one of my flower beds every March. I hardly ever get to see the tiny babes. This one is 2 months old, I'd guess.

Last year, this guy stayed in my fenced back yard from his June 3 birth, 102 days. Mama came to nurse. He grazed on ivy. My lab pitt mix treated him protectively like a younger pup. He came back with 4 inch velvet antlers a week after his birthday this year. I'll recognize that face always.

I have an ice necklace for walking my dog, since I have no heat tolerance (I used to be fine in high humidity, low 90⁰s). I take him off leash in a woods near a creek and have worked back up to half a mile bur haven't been able to push past that yet.

One year ago today, Rabbithead the doe chose to give birth in my back yard to her fawn Breadloaf (that was how big/little he was). He stayed in my fenced yard for 102 days. I'll never forget these faces. I have seen Rabbithead in the woods twice this year - she recognized me, too.
