As if the U.S. and the U.K got involved in the World Wars to save Belgians. It was out of pure self-interest. Belgium wouldn't even exist if the U.K. hadn't helped to create it in the 19th century as an artificial buffer state. Besides the U.S. is the far bigger problem now. Just saying.

"Ik ben zat" exists but also "Ik ben het zat" in Dutch/Flemish with the latter a bit closer to the meaning of "sad".
I also wonder whether the former isn't more of a Flemish sentence meaning being drunk whereas the Dutch would rather state "Ik ben dronken" instead of "Ik ben zat".

"Ik ben zat" exists but also "Ik ben het zat" in Dutch/Flemish with the latter a bit closer to the meaning of "sad".

I started gaming on a GameBoy at 21yo up until my PS2 broke down in the middle of FFX. Didn't play for 20 years, picked it up again in 2024, on a low-end mini pc. Everything looks good to 56yo me even if games are over 10 years old and I pick them up dirt cheap. I have muscle memory! It's a blast.

I read House of Leaves many moons ago. Almost right after it was published as I worked at a book store then. I have such fond memories of losing myself in that book. But I want to thank you and the other poster for mentioning the videogames. I never knew about the Doom mod or A. Wake 2 based off it.
