Went for a walk in the park. Had a chipmunk stop *right* in front of me. Had to try drawing/ painting one to commemorate 🥹

I tried gouache over an acrylic ink base and i have to say - i think I really am starting to prefer gouache over my watercolors.

L O fucking L. I've been telling people that small business is going to die off and some people look at me like I'm being dramatic. But one of my wholesalers is asking us to accept an even smaller profit margin, which is probably fine if you're big but small/indie retailers? It's a death sentence.

Moth May - Peppered Moth. My hand hurts from trying to stipple to capture the moth's coloring/texture. Pen again, though i did do an initial outline with pencil this time.

Tried a ballpoint pen sketch for the first time ever, too. Mistakes were made, but I'm proud of it :) now to decide if I want to add color to it, or leave it as-is. Maybe I'll fill the page and then add color later?

Experimented in the work sketchbook today. Quinacridone magenta gouache and then used some crappy Crayola pencils over it. #artsky #artyear #sketchbook

I not only managed to remember to bring my fig, Figgie Stardust, inside last fall, but I've kept it alive and happy enough that it's now FRUITING for the first time 😍

Mistakes galore, but i tried my very first oil painting today!

My blending needs work, and I'm not using enough paint on my palette in general, but for a very-first-time experiment I'd consider it a mild success :)

Working on reorganizing my art space today... If i ever claim i need another sketchbook, someone remind me that i don't, actually.

I should probably stop buying the big ones, though, because the 8x5 sized ones seem to be what I gravitate toward using on a regular basis
