The assertion of human rights is normally unpopular with those in power. That’s why we have them.

I’m SO glad Azul Duel works. Variable patterns and crunchy choices, meaningful but light interaction, and still has the heart of the original. #boardgames #tabletopgames

Dune Imperium Uprising is not in the collection anymore, but I respect the hell out of it and I’m glad for the time we spent together. The breadth of decisions and strategies and the way it weaves in the lacerating plotting & scheming of the Dune-verse is perfectly executed.

It’s just not very FUN.

(1/2) Battle Line is my favorite 2-player-only game of all time, and by far my most-played overall. Make miniature “poker hands” from 3 cards and claim flags by outplaying your opponent at the right time.

The delicious twist is that you have to make a claim and explain why they can’t beat you each

Remember in Bioshock where you had to swap out pieces to make the water connect to the other side of the board to pick locks?

That’s what Trailblazers does, and you all play at the same time! Charming, simple, colorful, and it’s always your turn? Yeah, I’ll take two of those.

This is an integral piece of the puzzle, and an unusually difficult thing for a lot of people to understand.

Scapegoating is rampant and dangerous for everyone in any society. It is by nature meant to distract and trick.

Plus, you don’t want any of the jobs that are supposedly being “stolen.”

Having heard only a bit about Harvest, I picked it up on sale at Target and quickly upgraded everything about it because it’s such a simple joy of a worker-placement game.

Cute, thematic, accessible, and with just enough depth to satisfy a wide variety of tastes and skill levels.

I was YEARS late to the Lost Ruins of Arnak party, but since that party started it’s just gotten more and more awesome.

Swift and exciting turns, accessible mechanics (especially considering how much there is to look at on all the cards and boards), and such a fun theme. Eat your heart out, Indy.

To mark the moment, my current obsession, my #1, is Joyride: Survival of the Fastest.

Brilliantly designed, balanced, and paced with laughs practically guaranteed every turn.

The amount of turns you’ll choose a potentially-chaotic and -ruinous option because it’s actually your best move… 🤌🤌🤌

I play a lot of board games (777 plays last year) and sometimes I photograph them! I’ll be posting photos of… EVERY game in my collection and writing a bit of analysis and appreciation for each of them.

Remember when Alfred made Bruce wear a knee brace that allowed him to kick bricks out of a [likely load-bearing] column under Wayne Manner and then he never used it again?

In this heavily metaphorical first post, the sea represents Facebook, Instagram, and X.
