There we go. Ink coverage not great but I AM starting to go out of my mind from fucking around with these so I don’t really mind for now.

One of my best buds is running a weekly art challenge on IG and I was like “oh I’m totally in, I’ll use it as a lino cutting practice thing! Just small, quick, easy prints, I have time.”

3 weeks in, I just finished the first two prompts (very small, think A7 sized). 😬

These aren’t even new anymore but I promised myself I’d get better at sharing process stuff.

Testing out ways to represent the texture of the stem of a mushroom I want to make prints of (Frost’s Bolete, important to say because I DON’T THINK YOU CAN TELL 💀 but that’s WHY I’m testing, so all good).

My desperate attempt to get back into art continues with fancy green sketchbook for actual effort/life drawing/observational stuff/pain experiments and cheap pink sketchbook for pen only worst bullshit scribbles you’ve ever seen in your fucking life, including (continued in thread)

I might base it more off of some of the sketches I actually do when I’m out in the woods with a chunky brush pen rather than this which is taken more from photos I took out there.

Okay so I think I’ve taken this as far as I can and it’s cute and I’ll distribute the print amongst my friends and family at Christmas lol but my next go is going to be sooooooo different.

Really, really trying to learn to love the process of lino cutting and printing because so much art I love is produced this way.

I struggled a lot with it at art school, but I’ve been learning a lot since I started this simple piece. Self-initiated vs. Assigned often goes that way though I think.
