Forgive me. I was coming from a place of reasoning rather than being too forensic. I am not best qualified (I’m not Jewish), nor have I lived in Palestine or the Middle East, so I bow out at this point. Just wanted to express my sympathy to a Jewish community, here, as well as a Palestinian one.

I think the point is, let’s all walk in another person’s shoes for a hot minute. Maybe, just maybe, ‘globalise the intifada’ is frightening to some. Whether you or I feel that’s right or wrong is immaterial. What is important for me, is that folk feeling unsafe isn’t ok.

What I thought I heard was that amongst the numbers of Palestinian protesters, there seemed to be evidence of antisemitism. By a similar rationale, we could argue that amongst those at Tommy Robinson’s recent march, there were also racists. The existence of both groups of racists is frightening.

I have (and continue to think) this isn’t black and white. Those words have an impact. The position of the current Israeli government isn’t the fault of the UK Jewish population. We must, in my view, make sure our empathy transcends the politics.

I am ill and listened to the whole show. I don’t think I heard that. I think what I heard was recognition of the fear Jewish people have been feeling since Oct 7th in the UK. Regardless of any views one might have on what’s happening in the Middle East, I wouldn’t wish that fear on anyone.

Yep. Just like every government gone before. Once your hands are near power, suddenly it just doesn’t have the appeal it once did. Coutts banking, EU passport holding Farage is no different.

Thanks. In TVland we are quite nervous as it’s now such a global industry and quite frankly we’d be scuppered without US money.

Lots of TV and film produced in the UK for the US. We are cheaper to hire (non unionized rates for many of the workforce). If Trump finds a way of creating some kind of fiscal punishment for this, it would probably be the death knell for half the industry resulting in huge job losses.

I have no Latin so can’t comment but agree it’s a shitter having to learn the gender *and* the word - feels like double the work for what seems like the same result. BUT it eventually just sounds wrong and you don’t have to think about it anymore. My 13 yr old is outraged by the whole thing.
