If they are paying taxes, then I have no problem with them receiving services. Also, folks who have no income but submit their tax forms would be covered. That is a very small percentage of people. There's a point where devil's advocate becomes a barrier to "trying."

I'm no policy person, but here's how I'd attempt it. 1. Funded by taxes. Show how most folks will get better care this way instead of paying private health insurance. Roll fed funds into it. 2. Folks from other states or countries will need to pay with their private health insurance.

I feel like it will become self funding as people quit their health plan and join the collective health plan. Also, the buying block from the collective alone could reduce the cost of common treatments like insulin or epi-pens.

Hear me out...start a health collective to provide single payer heathcare directly from the government. Not Medicare. Truly free healthcare if you are a taxpayer from any of the collective states. Once the masses see that it can work, the US will adopt social medicine.
