I have no idea... but I would LOVE to know... Can you find the video again?

I was a senior in 1996 when it got down to -24°F several days in a row. They didn't close campus until the day it warmed up, because downtown Pullman flooded, and Pullman Transit buses couldn't get out of their base due to flooding.

Thanks for the explanation... that makes sense. it had been sunny and about 38 when it started... now down to 34 with continued light snow. Was not expecting to see any precip today!

@twillsheep.bsky.social a little bit of both here, but I think it's mostly been snow.

Snowflakes and snow pellets here, although it's alternated back and forth. Now it's lightly snowing flakes. Temp dropped 4 degrees since this started.

Maybe it's showing the forecast? I don't know, but that kind of disparity is absolutely possible around here. I live 3 miles north of Monroe and I can be 10° different than it is down in town, just from elevation.

I'd guess one sensor is on the car, the other is likely reported from a "nearby" weather station on your phone. I experience similar disparity with my "smart" thermostat - it reads its temp from a remote station, so it's +/- 10° off my home temp, which is a problem for my air source heat pump.

Had one less than 2 miles away, it was the only one I saw and heard, and it was loud and bright! Would not be surprised to hear the strike I heard was positive lightning. 3 miles NE of Monroe. My Tempest shows 7 strikes...

Oh wow! Welcome to the area. Depending on where you came from, things can sometimes be pretty exciting. 💨❄️🌧️ What general area are you in? It will make a difference in the weather you see.

Being N of Monroe, I get gap winds *and* the convergence zone so ... it can get interesting. 😀

I am just inside the area that gets gap winds North of Monroe. The storm on/about February 14, 2021, where most places got nearly a foot of snow, I had high E winds and about 2" of drifted snow. Had a hemlock snap off about 25 feet above the ground. Any idea how this one will compare?

Can verify, I'm 3 miles NE of Monroe and it's been raining all day, sometimes hard.

Canceled mine a while ago. Today, I canceled the LA Times for the same reason after over 4 years as a subscriber.
