Laraaji at Asbury First Church.

Celebrating the 45th Anniversary of 'Day of Radiance' with Rochester's first Ambient Church show. Amazing experience.

Widespread Panic at the Capitol Theater night two.

Best post Houser show I've seen? Best post Houser show I've seen. Sample size isn't all that big considering it's been twenty years but that was an epic Panic show. Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring back to […]

Widespread Panic at the Capitol Theater.

Feasting on a little pre Thanksgiving Panic this weekend. Good start tonight, nothing bad nothing crazy, just solid. Last time I was at the cap was for panic back in 2019. Seemed right sized then, seems way too small […]

Caitlin Canty at Timber House

From 2017 thru 2019 hit this incredible house concert series a good half dozen or more times. Then after the pandemic they cut the capacity down and doubled the ticket price and I hadn't been back until tonight. Been wanting to […]

Billy Strings at Blue Cross Arena

Just a fantastic band putting on a solid arena show. Though probably my favorite part was at the end of the first set, Billy sitting on the steps picking out some tunes just him and an acoustic guitar.

Blitzing through the massive dump of photos my company just posted from their conference a few weeks ago and did a double take and reverse when I caught a familiar face greeting people at the registration desk

Minibeast at Skylark Lounge.

Looping sound collages, grungy power chords and noise, spoken word, rocking bass and absolutely ridiculous drumming just constantly motoring. Kickass show.

The Fiddle Witch and O's Pipa at Little Cafe.

Just your everyday combination of a Swedish nyckelharpa and a Chinese pipa. Intriguingly unique and playing to a surprisingly packed house.

October, another ridiculous month of new music releases of which I am still making my way through. Some of my favorites... with a bit of an unintentional theme, a quartet of under-the-radar instrumental albums:

Yuhan Su -- OVER the MOONs

The Second Hand […]

Jon Camp Band at Skylark Lounge.

Cosmic instrumental guitar ditties, nice blend of all the genres for a unique sound. Really enjoyed that. But a short set opening for a local band, I want more!

I'm With Her at Asbury Hall.

Just a stunning trio of ladies in very fine form tonight. And an appropriate group to be seeing on Election Day too. Happy to get home to such good news on that front.

Packed house (SRO) and packed stage (11 piece band, up to twelve with a couple special guests sprinkled in) for a special album release show with a chamber orchestra completing the full album sound. Special Sunday […]

Brass Machine at Abilene.

New Orleans funk via Buffalo.
First set Dead covers (with some big stretches thrown in for good measure).
Second set cosmic funk funeral. Fun(ky) shit.

Will Lawrence at Abilene.

Gorgeous set of finger picked folk songs. Was thinking during the set I would be happy just listening to the guitar parts and then he obliged later by playing an as yet finished tune that he hasn't put lyrics to yet. But the vocals […]

Adam Amram Family Band at Lux.

Rambling ramshackle Canadian folk. Had the place pretty hopping. Hopefully it was a warm welcome for their first ever show across the border.

Avant Garde a Clue Festival day 4.

Caught ten sets ranging from a truly bizarre play about a monkey and crab hairdresser duo or something with diy costumes and all, to a drumming synthpop soloist with pretty great homemade animated videos.

Highlights were […]

Charlie Ballantine Trio at Bop Shop Records.

Revisited an old album of Bob Dylan covers. Kinda woulda preferred his originals. Regardless, putting this guy on the list, incredible. Excited to have finally caught him and excited for the next time.

Acid Mothers Temple at Avant Garde a Clue Festival.

In running with the festival's experimental spirit, they played looser and more out there than I've seen. For a good portion of the over 2 hour set they were completely unhinged. Midway through, the […]

Stephane Wrembel at Lovin Cup.

Second night of his annual 4 night run. Trio tonight with Josh Kaye and Ari Folman‑Cohen tracing the history of the guitar and Gypsy music. At times more music history lesson than actual music but still the music was great as always.
