In this first part of Chapter Fourteen, we find Ali trying to resolve a quandary while Esi prepares to visit her mother and grandmother. The phrase “sort himself out,” which has no direct equivalent in Twi, Swahili, and Wolof, yielded lively discussions, and intriguing translations.
