I believe that conversation (listening!!!) and community are both incredibly important. Learning from others and hopefully teaching them something as well here and there.

I've spent the last few months thinking a lot about self-discipline and having grit and wanted to get it down on "paper." #SelfDiscipline #Grit #SelfImprovement #Growth

Self Discipline and Grit
I, and most everybody I know, dislike the phrase "Work hard, play hard(er)." The image that phrase creates in my mind is one of a person who is obsessed with "bro culture." It isn't something many adu...

Going to start working on removing any AI art on any posts. It will probably take me a year, but it seems worth it.

1% better every single day (at least that's the goal haha)

Still the biggest daily impact for me is from (I think, Atomic Habits) is asking myself "Is this what a _______ person would do?"

Is this what a gritty person would do?
Is this what a healthy person would do?

Stops me from doom scrolling and eating unhealthy snacks.

I forgot how nice it was to get outside and walk around, since the last couple weeks have been cold / gross outside. Clears the mind so well.

There's a peace in taking many situations in life less seriously. I try to take important stuff seriously still, but if I have to spend an extra 10 minutes in a meeting (that I'm blessed enough to be in), it's okay. Life will be fine.

What are you all reading this January? Also, what are your reading goals?

A reminder for myself that every failure and every time I'm wrong, it's a chance to reflect and grow.

(This is extremely hard for me. I hate making mistakes)

What habits are all of you trying to develop in this new year?

My big ones are writing and drawing for at least 15 minutes every day.

Anybody else using the Loop Habit Tracker? I appreciate how simple it is. #SelfImprovement #LifesJourney

As all of this AI personality stuff takes off, remember that real human connection goes such a long way in both your own life and the person's you're talking to.

A lot of people are really lonely, and these small interactions can help them feel like they're back connected with the world. #Meta #AI

As a parent, it is SO easy to fall into bad habits / lose your good habits, especially when you're low on sleep.

I plan on spending some time taking a look back at where I've fallen short on getting back to good habits and what I need to do to get back there.

As the year comes to an end, I think it is a nice time to make an extra deep evaluation of ourselves, though I think that we need to make these mini-evaluations and take more mini-breaks throughout the year.

The Evaluation Break
Over the last year (and a bit more, depending on how closely you follow sports), Caitlyn Clarke has taken women's basketball by storm. She torched NCAA competition for years, and had a solid start to ...

While starting a habit at the start of the year feels a bit goofy, there is some good about having a fresh start.

But it's all about building those good habits, so that you can fall back on those habits, to keep yourself mentally and physically healthy.

FINALLY finished Think Again by Adam Grant a second time. Hoping to finish Atomic Habits a second time by tomorrow - though I'm also trying to not be selfish and actually be a good parent lol

AI can be great for some stuff, but I really feel like these companies going full speed into AI are missing the mark, and I think the fact that Bluesky took off helps back that up.

Human connection is so important for almost everybody and their mental health.

While AI is a great tool, it feels like we are swinging so hard past it being a tool. So many social media posts feel the exact same.

My site is through Wix, and every screen you go to, they offer AI to "improve" what you've done.

Same with resumes. Nobody stands out when they're all the same. #AI

Speaking of federal pardons, here is someone else seeking one: former Arizona coach Book Richardson. I profiled him and what he has gone through @theringer.com.web.brid.gy @ringernba.bsky.social: www.theringer.com/2024/10/10/c... His pardon statement to POTUS is in the piece. Please share.

As the college sports landscape rapidly evolves, is there a path back in for a disgraced former assistant basketball coach?
