Love the flowers on Alexanders, and it's great for pollinators. It self seeds freely, but this year I will collect seed to plant in the cottage garden. Alexanders can be eaten like parsnips, asparagus and the seed is like a spicy pepper #gardening #herbs

It's Sunday. Time to settle down and watch #GardenersWorld on iPlayer. Loved those front gardens and that back garden in Edinburgh. I wish more people embraced front gardens, it's good for the soul. Love mine.

Cutting the hedge in the mist. This is the last section of hedge to rejuvenate, reduce in height. It's a great time of year to do this to deciduous hedges as they bounce back in spring. I reduce the height of the hedge in the first year, then the width either side over another two years #gardening

Re-reading the reissued #margeryfish classic. It's of a bygone age but interesting to read, with moments of joy and hilarity. The whole thing about a tradesman's entrance and the hedge she protected from the builders who feared her arrival #gardening
