I definitely don’t look like a goth but I feel like one in my soul. And I’m both impressed by and jealous of the person who has that license plate. 🖤

There’s no real point to this post, other than I don’t really share anywhere else and felt like I needed to get this out of my head. I hope anyone who sees this is having a content and peaceful start to their 2025.

So that’s my plan. I don’t know if I’m succeeding yet, and I’m definitely still grieving, but I am trying to honor those people I miss by caring for myself, caring for others, and engaging with world in a positive way.

Yesterday I turned 40 years old. I’ve been actually looking forward to this age, and I like the idea of a new decade; a fresh start. Maurice Sendak ended his final interview, the one with the previous quote, by saying: “Live your life. Live your life. Live your life.”

The start of January has been traumatic for me in recent years. Three family members have died since 2016 during the first 10 days of the year. And my birthday is January 7th. It’s been really hard to be anything other than depressed on the one day of the year that is mine for joy and celebration.
