I like the article, but this claim, "the deeply dysfunctional couple at the center of Revolutionary Road wind up in the suburbs to prove to themselves that they are normal and can be happy" is so curious. I didn't get that at from Revolutionary Road at all.

One time I did call them to fix a broken window, and after their son fixed it I called them back to thank them and say he did a good job.

They told me no one had ever called to thank them before. Then they let me break the rules and get a cat.

I like those mom and pop landlords. Rent is always cheaper, and they just don’t want to be bothered in their semi-retired state, so you fix your own shit.

One of my good friends is a lifelong republican and wrote in Romney for the last three elections, as a small act of protest.
