Living my best life in California. Love cooking, former caterer, movies (film festivals are a must every year), traveling and enjoying life!
It's been a while... Retired and went on vacation. Found this in a small bookstore in Galway, Ireland... My absolute favorite book as a child and I'm now re-reading... Every bit as good as I remember 😁😁

Cleaning out the freezer and found bits and bobs of ground meat (turkey, beef, lamb and pork)... What to do? Make meatballs of course 😁
5 1/2# of meat; 46 meatballs (2-2 1/2" each); frozen for later use.

Both new read and honoring female authors I love. One of her early books; like 100 years of solitude, the story of a family.

Latin surrealism at its best.

Just finished this original by George Orwell, having only really known his 1984 and animal farm. Addresses how homelessness is misunderstood... From his own experiences (1930s) of being "down and out"; not much different today, except perhaps drugs.

Very good. Orwell's writing is excellent.

Excellent read, the Beekeeper of Aleppo, by Christy Lefteri. Wonderful writing and sad how she captures the horror of war and what it does to those fleeing or staying. The psychic pain that never leaves.

@filmupdate.bsky.social Watched widow clicquot on Netflix; great story about how one woman, against all odds and prejudices created one of the most infamous brands of champagne... Watch then read 😊

If you only saw the movie or haven't read this for awhile, it's worth a second read... Just the emergency efforts taken for this one fishing boat gives you an idea of what our govt, working, does for us!

#booksky #February just finished in Mexico
4/5* had a hard time relating to Central character who seemed more like a tourist vs a traveler in someone else's culture. Not sure she ever really "got" what being Mexican really means.
