Right now, it's almost 2 am and I don't know how to end this but I love my mom despite everything. I find it painful that my mom had to suffer from that but at the same time- I realize that my pain is valid and idk where it should go (5/5)

My mother didn't want us to experience what she experienced in the past. She doesn't want us to develop feelings of inferiority as a result of being deemed "inferior" by prejudice (4/n)

I won't romanticize it because it did damage my self-esteem but listening to my mother's horror stories about her life wherein people looked at her differently and subtly discriminated against her made me realize why she had that mindset (3/n)

I used to think that it's because she wants the good reputation. I won't deny it but I used to resent her a bit for it because all I can remember is how I wasn't enough- and how all of my weaknesses are magnified and berated. (2/n)

but alas, I can only go forward in this sad reality

I'm not even an American but their people's ignorance and apathy is going to negatively impact my life as a denizen of the Global South
