Sometimes I make high-contrast, visceral illustrations. Other times, I love making art of characters in some of their most vulnerable & intimate moments. I pride myself on capturing emotions well and playing with color. ✨💕✨

👏CLIPPING👏 MASKS 👏SAVE👏 LIVES!!!

ETERNAL GRATITUDE to my prof. who told me about them. My mind just EXPLODED afterwards. These are AMAZING for anyone who has characters against BGs that are busy or have fine details that would be an absolute nightmare to render normally. ALT Text=process explained.
After your character(s) has been rendered, using a brush with a crisp, hard edge, block out their figure with a solid color, or if possible, create a custom selection to save for later use. PRO-TIP: use different colors, preferably vibrant colors you most likely wouldn't use within your palette to make them stand out more. Be sure to keep your selection as accurate as possible; keep in mind frayed edges, wispy hairs, etc. With this method, you can just select your blocked out area in an instant and work exclusively against the BG, also great for making sure you have a good contrast between different elements. Plus, this helps for BGs, too: just select your character or FG element(s) you've blocked out, then simply Invert your selection. BOOM! No re-selecting, no magic-wanding, you just automatically have a seamless selection. You can even adjust it by dilating or retracting your selection diameter for miniscule adjustments in case your initial selection was a pixel or two off. Once you're done, you can render your panels at near LIGHTNING SPEED!! Now, you don't have to manually re-select each time for where you want to add textures or colors against those tight areas where your lines / edges of your character(s) and the BG touch. "Game-changer" is nowhere near a strong enough word for implementing this method into my work. I have a tendency to draw a lot of stray hairs or don't finish some forms (like, completely enclosing hair shapes or areas that fade away for visual interest) because I want them to play against the negative space. Before this, I was manually "magic wanding" every panel for forever, and having to go in manually with the selection wand to re-close areas my program didn't recognize as being "closed". Actual, nightmare-inducing work. Wish I was doing this YEARS ago.

If you do want to check it out, outside of reading the synopsis, I'd suggest going in blind. Googling ruins almost all of the monsters that show up, lol. OH MAN, this makes me think back to binge watching seasons of Face Off on "SyFy".

I'm in love with ideation, specifically translating my scripts to panels. When I write, it's in the form of a screenplay so I have to think of composition, panels, and everything "on the fly" when I want to represent it visually. 1 Paragraph can be 3 panels or even 3 pages, but I love the challenge!
I also ✨LIVE✨ for designing these sort of panels. I first saw "3AM" in a dream as a fully-fleshed out series (the first bit of the first chapter anyway, haha), with cinematic lighting and angles and everything, so I try to reflect that in my pages. The medium of comics lends itself so well to focusing on tight close-ups and subtle changes in a character(s) from moment to moment. One thing I also noticed is how much my focus on certain aspects has changed as I go along. Being influenced by manga / manhwa early on, I used to draw A LOT of panels of just floating eyes / lips / etc. which didn't really help the pages move along smoothly. Now, I try to focus on getting the "shot" to look right, asking myself "Would this work better as a close-up? Or can I move the camera back some more? Do I need to see ALL of the character in this shot? Do I need to show them AT ALL?". Taking a storyboarding class REALLY altered my brain chemistry in terms of composition and I'm eternally grateful for it. ALSO, also, every day I thank GOD for the invention of "copy + paste". Otherwise, panels like this would be a nightmare for me; I'm more than certain that panels like this where the character "barely moves" have their own sub-folders of very similar panels that for some reason or other just weren't the right amount of "barely moving" to feel like an action is happening. Another funny thing I have enjoyed, more on a personal level, really, is seeing how much my sketches are teetering on the edge of being "finished" panels, haha. When I ramp up the intensity gradually as the page count goes up, you can see how much I'm getting into the story. It's a special sort of feeling seeing how comfortable and engaged I am with certain panels. IDK, is this a thing other people experience?

This sort of hyper-highlighter-esque colors under quick, solid lines, and 2. general multicolor sketching with one color dedicated per character or just contrasting colors with the lighter color as the base. So this would bu style #1... ...and this would ebe style #2, which is, ironically, the first style I started developing. Also: HNNNGGGGHHHHH ❤️❤️❤️ These two make me so happy.

An upcoming chapter dedicated to Vik and Tarla helped me make them become richer characters but it also cemented DIANA and TARLA's bond even more. They love each other dearly but envy each other for traits they wish they had...✨
Diana speaking to Tarla, assuring her that she is fine. Tarla has the tendency to assume Diana is often in danger or underestimating her safety, even if she refuses to say it outright. Diana calling Tarla soon after the events of chapter 01. It's late, but Tarla is the type to at least answer, regardless of the time that Diana calls her. Tarla is drawn in when Diana speaks, often feeling useless as she does not know how to make things "better". Diana has the opposite problem, always wanting to offer solutions, but rarely has an outlet to express herself.

This site is a real testament to how little I conceive time passing; I'm either here for 5 minutes or 6 hours at a time.
