Of course, this was just part of the big lie: that inflation hitting its absolute peak at the point government was handed over somehow made the ensuing cost of living crisis all Labor's fault.

Step right up to feast your eyes upon the very first Liberal Lies collector card, in which we answer:

When is the best time to start focusing on the cost of living?
Well, right after you've lost an election, of course!

Collect them all ... so you don't elect them all!

It's Liberal Lie #6!
Undoubtedly one of their all-time faves.

Imagine repeating an easily-debunked lie so often that you start to believe it yourself, and then orient your whole political party's identity around it! 😳

IT'S HERE!
Liberal Lies Collector Card #6:
"Renewables are driving up power bills"

The Truth?
Electricity is expensive because of surging fossil fuel prices.

If we can get the truth in front of people early enough and often enough, hopefully the deceitful arguments against strong climate action will be falling flat well before #AusVotes2028 even gets started.

Thank you fellow Truth Warriors. 🫡
See you in the comments.

It seems likely that these whoppers will be on repeat for the next 2.5 years. 😩

So here's OUR PITCH TO YOU: 🫵

Don't wait for the next election campaign to undermine their nonsense.

Whenever you see one of these lies being peddled by a public figure, call them out.

How?
We've made it easy!

Back to the main point:
We won't be back until election season approaches, but the lies start NOW.

Luckily, we've already covered 4 of their favourite big lies:
* Renewables made prices go up (#6)
* Current plan is just solar & wind (#4)
* Everyone's doing nuclear (#2)
* Nuclear would be cheap (#8)
NEW RELEASE: Liberal Lies Collector Card #4
"The renewables-only grid plan is ... 😱"

The truth is... no one is doing that!

(Tangent: Just in case you're not across why that's nonsense, the Paris agreement calls for keeping global warming "well below" 2°C above pre-industrial levels. But Liberal policy (as analysed in 2022) is more aligned with a (literally) disastrous +3°C warming.)

In case you've missed the news, the Australian Liberal Party have today said they will no longer have Net Zero GHG Emissions By 2050 as a party policy.

And the spin has already begun, trying to suggest they're also somehow committed to the Paris agreement.

The Liberal Party has dumped net zero — but the Coalition's real battle lies ahead
Sussan Ley has held her ground as the Liberals drop their net zero pledge. But unity, and credibility on climate, remain up for grabs.

Analysis of types of informal votes doesn't seem to be readily available at a seat level or even for every election.

There was an uptick in informal votes in Goldstein in 2022, from 2.21% to 3.43%. That has mostly reversed in this year's count, back to 2.28%
May 4, 2025 at 12:14 PM
Looks like a cracking swing to Greens given Labor's popularity. 👍
May 4, 2025 at 11:18 AM
Yes, a shame. We must have looked during some brief period where the count was close.
May 4, 2025 at 11:05 AM
Looks like the count's swung back to Tehan as the day progressed. 😔
