Metadata #musetech and copyright nerd. Librarian by day.
Whelp, we're certainly getting more hints as to why the Prince with the Black wife had to flee racism from his own family.

You are the company you keep.

Copyright is stupid

Book title: Mine-finders, published 1925
Author dies: 1939
Illustrator dies: 1972
Book enters public domain in Canada: 2043

THAT'S ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN YEARS AFTER IT WAS PUBLISHED.

Copyright is Stupid

And it was Trump who made it worse

Dear Canada,

This is a pretty good time to entirely halt using the imperial measurement system, since we were only using it to be friendly and polite.

METRIC RULES!

This is a good day for Librarians to spotlight Canadian literature, Canadian films, Canadian music, Canadian tv. It's pretty damn good.

I'm trying to stick mainly to work related things here but can we all remind ourselves that none of this could have happened without hipster doufus Jack Dorsey.

Hey Librarians - this is a good time to dust off and promote your copies of Upton Sinclair's The Jungle (there are endless copies on the @archive.org as well).

Sending a little love to the @fda.gov today.

*snort* that would be the "collective" in collective bargaining, geniuses. I guess they'd prefer that each individual barista negotiate their own salaries, benefits and working conditions......oh wait.

So, um, copyright and metadata nerds. As part of a digitization project with @archive.org I've verified the death dates of over 500 Canadian authors and illustrators. I can show my work.

Now what do I do? (note: I do not have access to LOC authority files or our own ILS)

Hey, I just heard of a service called BlueArk that will move your Shitter account over here. I probably won't bother, but I bet some of you have more than political snark on your former accounts.
