📚 A woman just walked into our library with a dozen donuts. She works at a bookstore but used to work at a library, and she was thinking of us and fighting for us. She said she hoped the donuts helped a little and to reach out to her at her bookstore if we needed anything. I've never felt so seen.

SCOOP: DOGE notified the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) today that the entire staff is being put on administrative leave effective immediately, I’ve learned from an agency source.
They’ll be cancelling huge swaths of grants/contracts and starting a Reduction in Force (RIF).

Any time I talk about teen programming and services with librarians, I hear the same thing, but teens don't come to the library. Sounds like it's time to build a presentation on teen and community engagement. Good thing I have so much time on my hands.

For the first time, I'm about to drastically have to alter/make up a crochet 🧶pattern. The video gives directions for making a front and back panel. The PDF gives directions for making in the round until you get to the sleeves, and then the directions are front and back panel again... I think??? Ugh

Reading and loving The American Queen by Vanessa Miller. I used to swear up and down I didn't like historical fiction. The way we talked about and read about black people in historical context when I was in school kept me from stories like this for so long. So glad to be making up for lost time.

There's a lot of talk over adults reading YA books. I believe that YA should be written for teens 💯, but when I read YA or MG featuring black kids, I can feel it healing a small piece of my soul. Literally. We have to protect POC writers and the freedom 2 read for all people at all costs. That's all
