Mom of 3, rug hooker, huge reader of romance & historical fiction, lover of history, Children's librarian. Fortunate to live in the very blue state of MD.

Having finally embraced my geekdom, I happily have a 'I break for historical markers' car magnet!
I *knew* as I was doing my Temperature Rug that I was out of my mind! I did get an article in Rug Hooking Magazine out of it though!

I guess now is not the time to tell you that I was at an Owl & Raptor Festival at a Regional Park with temperatures around 69 degrees, and am now sitting on my deck drinking hc...

Michelle's Book of the Month:

After a FB discussion, I realized that since I get exposed to really different & interesting books, I should post titles that might get lost.

I'm reading this now, and it's fascinating. Was a rec when I was in Scotland

Now the entire staff of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report has been given RIF notices.

Any data produced from this government is suspect.

I like the way this one is turning out as well. Thinking of handing them out as thank you gifts to people while my husband & I are on our anniversary trip.

I just finished a small mug rug and have started another. I'm hoping something simple & low pressure will help kickstart me.

I usually use rug wrap (standard for rug hookers) but fight with the curved letters the same way.

This is the legend of my Temperature Rug.

Scrolling to postpone reading the last 20 pages. The events in this book may have happen over 100 years ago, but we've already had 3 young man die, and Wilfred Owen is just beginning to live his dream as a poet!

This book will definitely cause a book hangover.

This was an absolute hit today! She *loved* the blue color (which looks copper in the photo), and is working on a name for her dragon.

Thank you!

OUTOFSHAPEWORTHLESSLOSER by Gracie Gold

Gracie doesn't pull any punches in this really strong memoir about skating and depression.

There are also some really strong parallels to stories that have emerged from Women's gymnastics.

SKIN & BONES
by Renee Watson

This is such a beautifully
written book about so many things - body image, love from family, friends & relationships, racism (overt & implicit), & historical memory that it can't be labeled.

CW: racism, weight, drugs, death of parent (not lead)

Day 1 #LibFavs24

As a Children's Librarian, I feel the need to start there.

INVISIBLE ISABELLE

Isabelle has a lot of stomach aches. Her parents convince her it's all in her head until she gets really ill.
Great introduction to anxiety/neuro-divergent issues.

I'm on your site, but having trouble figuring out which color corresponds to which name..

And my daughter doesn't really like bright colors (prefers black, actually:), but these just look cooler than the blue..
