Really enjoyed the European Culture Foundation's webinar this morning celebrating the UK libraries that took part in the Europe Challenge programme.

Such inspirational work demonstrating the power of libraries around community and social cohesion.

A slide from the online presentation given by Cambridgeshire Libraries about their Eat. Meet. Art. project which connected people seeking sanctuary with local communities through shared meals, events and art. The slide has a purple and yellow background and has photographs from the project's events in libraries and the food eaten. A photograph of embroidery done by the communities taking part in Oldham's project around engaging South Asian women with the library. The embroidery is of text that says: five ways to wellbeing, 1. Connect, 2. Be active, 3. Take notice, 4. Keep learning, 5. Give. Next to the text, is an embroidered cup with sparkles jumping out of it. The embroidery was done by one of the participants . A photograph of art produced by Bootle library's Elastic Money and Money Matters projects which used art to discuss debt issues and to signpost to debt support. The picture shows alternative designs for coins and bank notes. This is a photograph of a knitted potato with eyes and a mouth holding a sign that says 'positive potato - not all potatoes have the same colour skin but that's ok, be yourself!'. This was part of st Helens Libraries Community Activators projects which used co-creation to bring people together. They used a potato as something everyone can relate to and based events around this such as potato planting, knitting, and STEM events.
